Baratza Encore vs Capresso Infinity 565.05

Choose the grinding step you want to repeat.

The base Encore and the metal Infinity offer different controls for whole-bean coffee. Start with your brew method, how you measure a batch and the cleanup you will actually do.

The useful difference is in the controls.

Choose your stopping point

Encore uses a side on/off switch or a front button that runs while held. It may fit a routine where you watch and stop the grind yourself.

Choose a timed run

Infinity 565.05 uses a timer. It may fit a routine where you set a duration, then check the amount produced.

Keep a working grinder

A different switch or more setting numbers alone is not a reason to replace a grinder that already supports your recipe.

Compare these exact models.

This is the base Baratza Encore, not Encore ESP, against the metal Capresso Infinity 565.05, not Infinity Plus or the plastic 560. Model names matter when following instructions or comparing prices.

These are manufacturer instructions, not measurements from our own tests. Grind numbers do not translate between brands. Forty positions versus sixteen does not establish a finer grind, a better cup or a particular improvement in adjustment precision.

Start with the recipe, then choose the control.

For drip or French press, use the maker’s starting point and adjust for your recipe and coffee. If you already measure one batch before grinding, consider whether a held button, switch or timed run fits the way you work. Neither listed control measures a dose by weight.

Infinity’s manual says a finer setting produces less ground coffee per second. That means the same timer position is not a guarantee of the same amount after a grind change. Check the output with the measuring method your recipe uses and adjust from there. Encore’s switch also needs you to decide when to stop.

If you often change brewing methods, write down the setting and recipe that worked for each. Follow the relevant manual when adjusting or taking either grinder apart. Do not force a setting change through trapped beans or treat the comparison table as a replacement for operating instructions.

Do you need this for espresso?

Do not choose between these two on the setting count or the word “fine” alone. We have not verified either model with your espresso machine, basket and dose, or tested the adjustment range needed for your recipe. The Encore ESP is a different product and is not the Encore offer here. Confirm the requirements of the equipment you own before buying.

Cleaning is part of the choice.

Both manuals require unplugging before cleaning and keeping water out of the grinder body. The container-care difference above does not make the Infinity’s burrs dishwasher-safe. Its upper burr and collar are excluded. For Encore, keep burrs dry and hand-wash the permitted removable containers. Reassemble only after washed parts are dry.

Make room to remove the hopper, lift a burr and brush over a surface you can clean. We have not established comparative noise, static, grind retention, speed, grind uniformity or long-term reliability. If one of those is your main reason to replace a working grinder, this source comparison does not resolve it.

Choose only if grinding is the missing step.
